We’ve been really busy finalizing our wedding vendors over the past few weeks. So far we’ve booked our: venue, caterer, church, photographer, cake, dress, decorator, florist, favours, lighting and DJ *takes a deep breath*. With the big stuff out of the way, we’ll eloborate on each company as we get closer to The Big Day in September (but there’s still lots more to do)! In between the running around, one of our all-time favourite places to relax is Tomo Sushi.
We love sushi and realize that not all are made alike in quality, so I think it’s very important for us to share with you our favourite sushi restaurant. That’s right, Tomo is our favourite, and for good reason! Their rice is perfectly cooked (not so wet so that it’s overly sticky, and not so dry that it’s falling apart), they give you ample amounts of filling, the fish is fresh, they garnish their dishes artistically, the staff is always friendly, and there is wonderful ambience that is both calm and inviting. Did I mention that it’s our favourite? 😉
Cups of green tea with great reminders on how to live a healthy life.
One of the things I love most about Tomo is their complimentary crunchy noodle soup. Instead of the usual boring bowl of miso soup, Tomo one ups everyone else by throwing in some delicious noodles in a yummy soup, garnished with tempora bits for that added crunch.
I love seaweed salad, and pretty much crave it all the time so this is a must-have. At Tomo’s they add lemon juice to the dressing, giving the seaweed an extra refreshing citrusy taste.
Delicious soy sauce for the sushi. I can easily use up like half a bottle in one sitting!?!
This was our feast for the night. If you look closely there’s a dragon made of sauce at the top :D. Quite fitting, considering the red sauce is hot sauce, while the white is Japanese mayo and the black is a sweet sauce.
I always judge a sushi restaurant by their avocado rolls and the plentifulness of the fruit. Tomo sushi passes the test with flying colours, because they consistently give an abundance (look at that greenery)! Unfortunately some other sushi restaurants don’t fare the same, are extremely stingy and pack the rolls with primarily rice instead.
Finally, on our right is The Piece de Resistance: The Golden Dragon Roll. If you want to order one item from the menu that will WOW your guest, then this is it! Topped with edible gold flakes (I have no idea how many karats there are), this is a pure show stopper that tastes as great as it looks. It contains: torched albacore tuna on shrimp tempura, avocado, cucumber, and masago (orange fish roe). To the left is the Caterpillar Roll: sliced avocado on top of unagi, which is torched eel.
At the end of your meal you’re given complimentary slices of oranges cut beautifully well and easy to eat. I love how the sweet acidity of the fruit really cleanses your palate and finishes everything off. In our eyes, Tomo has consistently delivered delicious meals which is why we always come back. We also love the unpretentious and friendly atmosphere, and genuinely attentive service. Always book ahead whenever you can because it’s evidently everyone else’s favourite as well! 😀
