With my latest pregnancy craving being afternoon tea, along with a much needed getaway from the work week drab, we decided on the Lobby Lounge at the Shangri-La. See, I just can't seem to stay away from a few good scones and clotted cream! Joseph and I were also pleasantly surprised to find an Easter menu available for two weekends only, from March 28 to April 6 :D . … [Read more...]
Andrea’s Gerrard St. Bakery: Toronto
Another dessert post here, and happily devoured by yours truly :D. These were courtesy of our dear friends Derek and Yannan, from one of their favourite bakeries in Leslieville: Andrea's Gerrard Street Bakery. Very yum yum! Always ready for afternoon tea: (top tier) flourless chocolate cake and coconut cream pie, (bottom tier) butter tart and lemon currant scone. … [Read more...]
Prairie Girl Bakery: Toronto
We had company over on Friday, and our wonderful friend Stacy brought over the most scrumptiously iced out cupcakes from Prairie Girl Bakery. These treats are ginormous. The cream cheese frosting is distinctly theirs, and practically rests a 1:1 ratio with the bottom cake portion. That's a very generous dose of sugar, and up my kind of alley ;). Although I wish their cakes were more … [Read more...]
Bang Bang Ice Cream & Bakery: Toronto
I was just going through some old pictures in the camera, when I realized I totally forgot to post this little gem! The weather last September to October was much warmer than it is now, and ice cream was constantly on my mind. My friend told me about this quaint little shop named Bang Bang Ice Cream & Bakery in the Ossington area, so Joseph and I wanted to check it out. Anything for a … [Read more...]
Birthday Parties and Baby Showers
Lately I've been really busy with adorable baby showers and birthday parties (cuteness overload)! It really is this new stage in life for us, you know when "first comes love, then comes marriage, then comes the baby in the baby carriage." Babies seem to be THE thing for 2015 - even Hollywood celebs are popping them out left, right, and centre. I guess those ten weddings we attended two … [Read more...]
Fruit Smoothies
Lately I've been obsessing over fruit smoothies again, and making them at home has been a real treat. My mom used to blend them every morning for me, and now that I'm married I'm carrying that forward for myself and Joseph. They're great for breakfast-on-the-go (especially during the morning commute), and full of energizing vitamins. I swear it even makes my skin glow! Super easy to … [Read more...]
The Chase: Toronto
What a week! Between finalizing wedding details, planning several upcoming events, organizing work, home, and life in general, I've definitely been missing some zzz's. So how does this girl unwind during busy times? By eating fantastically, and keeping my taste buds happy. Toronto has so much to offer, and eventually we hope to explore more of this lovely city. Usually we scour the … [Read more...]
Afternoon Tea at Annona: Park Hyatt, Toronto
Okay so you're probably thinking this is yet another afternoon tea post (and it is, because we love it!), but I really want to emphasize that this is a special afternoon tea post about a recent great experience. Park Hyatt is fabulous, Annona Restaurant is fantastic, and I have nothing but praise for them because their afternoon tea service is phenomenal. Seems like a lot to say about … [Read more...]
The Art of Tea: Sloane Fine Tea Merchants
Sloane Tea, by far, is my favourite tea company and I can't even begin to tell you how long I've waited to post this. I think partly it's because I wanted to keep it to myself, but how can something this good (and good looking) not be shared? Sloane is a Canadian gem with exoticly sourced teas overseen by Hoda Paripoush, the founder, director, and head tea sommelier of her company (she … [Read more...]
Afternoon Tea at the Ritz-Carlton, Toronto
On Saturday afternoon we went for some afternoon tea, yet again! We chose the Ritz-Carlton, not only for its good reviews but for the exquisite tea selection from Sloane Fine Tea Merchants. Of course, the hardest part was waiting for the weekend to come! It must be the trend now to showcase the tea leaves before the guests (as also experienced at the King Edward Hotel). The … [Read more...]
