It’s no secret that I LOVE butter tarts! And while there’s no such thing as a bad butter tart (they’re all beautiful), there are qualities that can make one stand out more than others. For example, I always prefer a filling that oozes from the centre, and bonus points for a crunchy crust. Also, there should be a higher filling-to-crust ratio (it can’t be all crust)! So when my friend Karen, owner and baker extraordinaire of K’ravings Emporium Inc., said she made Butter Pecan and Butter Raisin Tarts with a shortbread crust I knew I was in for a real treat!

Now THAT is some serious filling, like liquid gold. Also, the shortbread crust makes all the difference: thin edged and crispy, just the way I like it. My stomach thanked me for it, and I can definitely see why this is a fan favourite.
K’ravings also makes Skor Shortbreads, my favourite cookies in the whole wide world (no joke, not exaggerating over here). These are phenomenal and I don’t know how I’ve managed to keep them a secret for all these years! They’re buttery, soft and crumbly on the edges, with a slight chewy middle. They’re uniquely dry and powdery to the touch, and never greasy feeling. The Skor bits are a lovely addition, and add a toffee touch that only Skor can. Seriously, these are hands down the BEST cookies I’ve EVER had, so never ask me to share them. In fact, I’ve had quite a few during this pregnancy (thank you Karen). Everything with K’ravings is made to order from scratch, so you always get the best and the most fresh. You have to try them!
