We had company over on Friday, and our wonderful friend Stacy brought over the most scrumptiously iced out cupcakes from Prairie Girl Bakery. These treats are ginormous. The cream cheese frosting is distinctly theirs, and practically rests a 1:1 ratio with the bottom cake portion. That’s a very generous dose of sugar, and up my kind of alley ;). Although I wish their cakes were more moist (I’m partial to the ones at Sprinkles), the frosting is the real star of the show. Giant swirls of indulgent buttery goodness! See pictures below, and try not to drool.
From top to bottom, left to right: carrot cream cheese, banana chocolate, chocolate peanut butter, red velvet cream cheese, chocolate vanilla, vanilla coconut.
Heavenly swirls. Cream cheese adds this sharp depth of flavour and makes the frosting rich and moist.
Afternoon tea: I love that they use actual vanilla beans in their product.
Vanilla coconut in my belly.
Baby and mommy are loving this right now :D.
Thanks Stace! Being pregnant, I always hit this mid-afternoon slump and this is the perfect pick-me-up. I love the all-natural ingredients and lack of preservatives. Needless to say, once my stash runs out I’ll be making a trip downtown very soon :D.
Cheers,
Melissa
