We have some GREAT news everyone… we chose our wedding cake! It was an amazing cake tasting session, complete with a try-any-flavour-you-like, no holds barred experience. In order to select the flavours, they let us try full-sized cupcakes and yes we felt incredibly spoiled! Thanks to Rica and her team at Pink Lemon Bakeshop for our over indulgent afternoon. 🙂
My friend Danielle highly recommended this bakery, and they made her such an elegant wedding cake, so I knew I had to check them out. Right when you step in you’re greeted by this beautiful cupcake display with tons of delicious flavours to choose from. There’s always room for dessert!
To the left is their wedding cakes display plus a tasting area. We were SO ready for this! We decided on a custom 5-tier wedding cake complete with a pink ombre-rose design, so 5 tiers = 5 different flavours. Rica and her team were so kind and knowledgeable, and thoroughly guided us throughout the process.
Left to right: double chocolate, coconut, blueberry champagne, salted caramel. Although these are cupcakes, the bakery will be incorporating the same flavours and creams into our slices of cake.
Salted Caramel: this was soooooo good! A salty and sweet buttercream, just like the name suggested. Couldn’t say no to this one.
Blueberry Champagne: the blueberry filling was a pleasant surprise, and you could definitely taste the champagne.
COCONUT! What awesomeness. We love anything coconut, so just by the looks of it we knew we had to have it. Light and airy coconut cream – the only hard part was deciding which tier to put it!
Double chocolate: rich in flavour, and a nice contrast to the previous vanilla bases. Who doesn’t like chocolate on chocolate? We’re going with this one as well.
Chocolate Oreo: yummmmmm, a new twist on a childhood classic. We wanted something very chocolatey for our wedding cake, so we decided to go with the previous cupcake, but we still thought this one was scrumptious.
Pink Lemon Bakeshop generously gave us more cupcakes to take home (spoiled!). Three additional flavours that we tried were: lemon creme, red velvet, and vanilla sprinkles.
Lemon creme topped with white chocolate chunks.
Red velvet with an authentic cream cheese frosting! We both love red velvet cake so much that we made it a part of our blog’s name. We’ve even decided that our 5 tier wedding cake will only have 4 different flavours afterall (one flavour to be repeated in the top tier): 1) red velvet, 2) coconut, 3) salted caramel, 4) double chocolate, and… 5) you guessed it, red velvet! We can’t wait to show you the finished product but you’ll just have to wait until the wedding ;). In the meanwhile, check out Pink Lemon Bakeshop this weekend at the Total Wedding Show on Jan 17, 18, and 19 at the International Center!
